0.1 Objects
Objects have been photographed in order to display visual qualities and to convey ideas. The photographers Edward Weston and Colin Wilson have used careful focus and lighting to produce black and white photographs which emphasise the textural qualities of objects. In his series Colour Still Life Albert Chong produces photographs by making an assemblage of natural and manufactured objects combined with old family documents and photographs. In her project Portraits of My Family Camilla Catrambone photographs collected objects that represent the interests of family members. Detailed image analysis
The egg looks as if a person with no arms is holding it up. Also, in the picture the way it mixes in shade, at the top of the image its bright and is you go down it gets darker. Also, the way the egg is on top of the bone is interesting because its almost like the start of life where you come from an egg and at then bottom of the bone is interesting as its darker and suggest death.
Furthermore, the way the bone is at the bottom which further suggests the idea of death is when you die you are just bone no soul no blood running through you, just your skeletal structure and darkness. Moreover, the contrast between darkness and light is interesting as they are both so different yet similar. If there was no darkness there would be no need for the word light, vice versa. The way the egg balances so perfectly on the bone could suggest the perfect balance of life and death. This is because in order to exist someone from a past life has to die. If there were no balance there would be overpopulation. |
Colin Wilson - Memory of touch
Colin Wilson's idea of memory of touch is really something I'm fond of as it allows me to explore my philosophical ideas. The feelings portrayed throughout these photographs portrays deep emotions within the mind of oneself, expanding on the nature of contrast within these images. Visualising these images allows you to depict the true sense of touch that has been previously embraced through someone. The ability to understand and truly dissect the nature that comes from these photos exemplifies the idea of touch, especially through the art of photography.
My images inspired by Colin Wilson
Balancing the books
In these images I am balancing books on one another meanwhile, there is still a meaning to it. It links to the images above as they have a few messages you can infer from each.
My favourite image
This is my favourite because it says don’t move but also says 'Go No Go' which is rather interesting. This is interesting to me because on the front cover of 'Go No Go' its almost like they people ran away from something and someone said No which could maybe be the reason for the title? The book 'DON'T MOVE' further suggests that. A few ways i could improve this would be using a different colour backdrop and some coloured papers overlaying the camera.
Refined Photographs
These are my new images however, i do not like the outcome for a few of them as i didn't focus properly when taking the image. Within some of the images the backdrop isn't fully covering the photograph and also the base isn't fully covered. I understand where i have gone wrong, however, there are some i really am proud of.
My favourite photoThis is my favourite photograph because i really fancy how the coloured plastic paper i put over the light really made the image look great. Also, the text on the bag is something I’m rather fond of ; this is because it talks about only coming in for one thing and you never know if the bag only has only ONE thing within it. I like the sense of mystery. Also linking this to Colin Wilson, when i see this image its almost as if i can feel the material of the handles and it gives me flashbacks to when i would carry the shopping in with my parents. Another memory i get is when i would put all the items from shopping into the bags.
Moreover, i am humble enough to know this image could’ve been better. This photograph would’ve been better if i had the base covering all the bottom rather than it hanging ; choosing the colour orange to match the bag rather than red. |
Laszlo Moholy-Nagy
A Hungarian artist who from my inference has this passion for abstract photographs. Also, Laszlo was also a painter and you will be able to tell from some of the images that will be shown. He was heavily influenced by constructivism and a strong supporter of intergrading technology within arts. He was born on 20th of July.
I really like these images made by Laszlo, as they implement a sense of mystery. I am really fond of abstract photos as you can never fully depict what you're looking at and it shows how creative one can really be. I prefer the second image because u can't really tell whats going on within the image as you can only really tell that there is a hand in the image and the other things you can only make inferences of.
My images inspired by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy
These are my images with inspiration from Laszlo. I love these images because you can't really tell whats going as they are abstract photographs. in particular, i like abstract photographs because it allows the person making them to fully explore their creative side meanwhile having the freedom to explore art with no restrictions!

My Controlled Assessment Plan
I will be making negatives with objects i will be brining in from home which relate to a hobby of mine ( GYM ). I will be doing this by using the apparatus i use at the gym on top of the the photographic paper. After that, i will be using an enlarger to produce a negative print. Additionally, i will need to ensure there are chemicals in each of the trays. After, place the new prints in *different stages* for 5 minutes then use a squeegee to get rid of the excess chemicals. Furthermore, i will hang the images up until they dry ( BE PATIENT ). After this I will use the printer to scan and photocopy my images, but add a layer of colour.
